About

Jennifer Disla is an Afro-Latina organizer, strategist, and writer building leadership infrastructure for working-class movements. For more than a decade, she has organized alongside working families, immigrant communities, and labor coalitions across the Midwest and beyond.

Her work focuses on a central question:

How can movements convert mobilization into lasting power?

Jennifer began organizing in 2008 during the Healthcare for America Now campaign. She later worked as a labor organizer with SEIU Local 1, leading contract campaigns across Ohio, Michigan, Missouri, and Indiana.

She then served as co-executive director of Detroit Action, where she helped lead campaigns advancing housing justice, economic equity, and political power for working-class communities. Today, she continues to design leadership systems that strengthen movements from the inside.

As a Black, first-generation Dominican American woman living with Bipolar Disorder, Jennifer brings lived experience into the design of leadership development, political education, and movement strategy. Her work is grounded in disability justice, racial equity, and collective liberation.
